Six Playground Video games staff, together with the inventive director of 2021's Forza Horizon 5, have left the studio to kind their very own.
This new studio is named Maverick Video games and the group there's already engaged on a brand new "premium open-world game for consoles and PC," in keeping with a Eurogamer report. This studio is just not linked to Microsoft's Xbox umbrella of studios.
Forza Horizon 5's inventive director, Mike Brown, is main Maverick and is joined by Playground's former lead producer Tom Butcher, who's the brand new studio's government producer, former technical director Matt Craven, who's Maverick's chief technical officer, and former technical artwork director Gareth Harwood, who's now content material director. Harwood is joined in that place by Fraser Stachan, a former Playground audio director, and Ben Penrose, a former artwork director at Playground.

Eurogamer studies that Maverick has already secured "significant seed funding" and is now actively engaged on its new sport, which would be the aforementioned open world sport for consoles and PC.
"Our goal is for Maverick Games to be a studio people will love," Brown writes in a press launch, in keeping with Eurogamer. "For players, we're already at work on an exciting ultra-high quality title, and for developers, we're building a home where everyone is encouraged to take risks, be curious, be creative, be innovative, be themselves, and above all – be a Maverick."

Eurogamer's report appears to point this won't have an effect on Playground Video games' in-development Fable title, which is being developed by a group separate from the Forza Horizon group throughout the studio.
This is not the primary studio shakeup because it launched Forza Horizon 5 in 2021. Final January, Playground studio director and co-founder Gavin Raeburn revealed he was leaving the corporate after 12 years.
