Tamil Nadu Goes To Supreme Court Against Order Allowing RSS Rally In State

The authorities has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) within the apex court docket, difficult the excessive court docket order that stated the RSS might maintain the rally on the Ramlila Maidan in Chennai.

The RSS had approached the excessive court docket after the Chennai Police had denied it permission to carry the rally, citing regulation and order issues.

The court docket had then stated that the Tamil Nadu authorities couldn't deny the RSS the fitting to carry a peaceable rally.

The state authorities, in its petition to the Supreme Court, has stated that the excessive court docket order went in opposition to the "prevailing atmosphere of communal disharmony" within the state.

The petition stated:

"The impugned order is per se contrary to the settled law laid down by this Hon'ble Court as to what would amount to a disturbance of public order so as to justify the restriction or denial of the right to hold a peaceful procession or public meeting."

The petition additionally stated that the order "directly conflicts" with an apex court docket order that stated that no permission must be granted for a rally or procession if there was a threat to public order.
